Every minute counts

Your semester is decided between classes

You might think your semester will be decided during the exam period. Or during exams. Or when you finally make "a real schedule."

But the truth is, the bulk of the work is invisible.

It happens in the "in-between" moments. The ones you don't plan. The ones you waste without really noticing.

That's where you can take real control.

These moments are what we call "gray zones":

  • The gap between two classes
  • The early evening after a tutorial
  • Wednesday afternoon with nothing planned
  • Saturday noon after having "sort of studied"

These are hours that are neither truly free nor truly structured.

Good news

These hours are worth their weight in gold.

What you do in these gray zones is what builds your lead.

You don't need to squeeze in 4 hours of intensive revision.

But you can do exactly what 99% of students don't:

  • Review a lecture while it's still fresh
  • Clarify a confusing section before it piles up with others
  • Go over a plan, redo an exercise, prepare for the next tutorial
  • Sit down and just organize what comes next

And in 45 minutes, you can save yourself 3 hours of struggle during the exam period.

Put this into practice starting this week:

🧩 1. Identify your "gray zones"

Look at your schedule and spot 2 to 3 slots where:

  • You have nothing planned
  • You're often "in limbo"
  • You could do something... without actually doing it

Examples:

  • "Tuesday 5 PM, after the stats lecture"
  • "Friday 10 AM, gap between two classes"
  • "Sunday 6 PM, before starting to stress about the week"

🔁 2. Give them a simple purpose

No need for a military program. Just a clear intention:

  • "Active review of the last lecture"
  • "Go over the 3 key points from the tutorial"
  • "Prepare my to-do list for tomorrow"
  • "Quick flashcards on what I just covered"

It's small, it's quick, it's pressure-free.

But that's what keeps you ahead in the long run.

In summary:

Others think the semester is decided in January.

You know it's decided by what you do now.

Not in the big, visible moments, but in the small, invisible time slots.

If you take care of your "gray zones," you'll take care of your brain, your rhythm, and your year.

Your move.
